Breathe Your Way to Better Physical and Emotional Health
- Article
- May 22, 2014
Over the years I have observed that nearly all chroncially ill people are shallow breathers. I've also observed that different emotional problems create corresponding imbalances in one's breathing. In this article, I discuss why breathing is so important to physical and emotional health. I also share breathing exercises you can use to improve physical, mental and emotional well-being.
A Journey in My Garden of Life

Recently, a long time friend of mine sent me a letter. She was diagnosed four years ago with uterine cancer. This letter is a message of hope because she has discovered the most important aspect of healing from any serious illness, which is this—none of us know how long we have to live. At some point in our lives we have to make peace with death and only when we do can we really begin to live. With her permission I'm sharing what she wrote to me, hoping it will be an inspiration to others facing serious health issues.
Apple's Up! Timeless Advice on Creating Happiness in Life
- Article
- December 23, 2009
Here's some sage advice on finding happiness in life from two of my mentors in the field of natural healing, Dr. Michael Brenay and Dr. Rodney Alsop: "Apples up, stars in your eyes, chest out, hang onto your silver dollar and glide down the glory road of life with a gratitude attitude." This article explains what this sentence is all about. It's great advice for anyone going through tough times.
If You Don't Know Where You're Going, How Will You Get There?

New Year is a time when people traditionally make New Year's resolutions. Unfortunately, by the time Valentine's Day rolls around in February, most people will have forgotten their New Year's resolutions. Even though I wrote this article just prior to the New Year, this article isn't about New Year's resolutions. It's about having vision and purpose. It's about defining what you want to experience with your life in general.
Compensation

This essay has greatly shaped my thinking about energetics and life in general. It was published in Emerson's Essays: First Series in 1841. I first read it after it was highly recommended by Napoleon Hill (author of "Think and Grow Rich"). There are two things in particular that I love about it.
First, it's the best explanation of the Oriental concept of yin and yang for Western minds that I have ever read. Second, it is an affirmation of my firm belief that God is just and fair and that the "law of the harvest" is a universal principle we cannot disobey.
I highly encourage you to read, ponder and review it from time to time. I have italicized some of my favorite parts in case you don't want to read the whole essay (it isn't easy reading).
An Energetic and Emotional Approach to Cancer
- Article
- January 11, 2009
Cancer is a very difficult illness to treat and one that causes a lot of emotional stress. I don't treat cancer, but I do provide people with education about alternative or complementary methods of dealing with it so they can make better informed informed treatment choices. Part of my goal in helping people with cancer is to empower them to take control of their health and start making their lives more pleasant and enjoyable.
